More than half of my life ago I started taking nicotine.
If only I could have those years over again!
I would definitely have started using earlier and I'd have moved Heaven and Earth to start on nasal snuff by my teenage years. As it was, I started smoking cigarettes because Bryan Ferry did. I got into the pipe early because J.R.R. Tolkien had done so. Back somewhere in the eighties my brother bought some 'chewing' tobacco from Sol Levy, but neither of us knew how to use it and we threw it out! We had no one who could teach us and information was scarce.
Rollies, Cuban cigars and various pipe tobaccos later I can only say that I am a nicotine addict. And I love my addiction. That calming rush you get as Old Nic hits the spot! The slow build up of relaxation as snus begins taking hold. The tingling joys of snuff.
I just wish all the ----ers out there who don't even know my name would stop worrying about my health. I just wish all of the Goody-Two-Shoes would examine Dr. d--- Doll's methodology or how the US Surgeon-General collected his statistics. Mathematical water-boarding: 65% of people eat apple pie everyday and 35% never do and only 55% of hospital patients eat apple pie. Apple pie is good for you! But if 75% of hospital patients eat apple pie then it must be detrimental to your health!
I recommend that young kids start experimenting early. Oral tobacco and nasal tobacco are the ways for young people to go. Get what you need over the Internet. Start growing, drying and curing your own tobacco. It's an absorbing hobby with something to show for it at the end. I sometimes loiter around the local school and give away cigarettes to the kids. Recently some of them have started snuffing before they light up. I always offer words of encouragement.
I get old women to grow tobacco for the flowers and I help them by collecting all the old leaves. I've grown tobacco near creeks so that when it produces seed, nature will help deliver it to where it's needed. I've scattered tobacco seed in the bush. I leave unaddressed envelopes containing seeds and instruction in hotel toilets hoping someone will take the envelope and start growing.
Anyway, that's what I'm doing. How about you?
